Reichstag

THE GERMAN BUNDESTAG MEETS HERE
 
The Reichstag building on the Spree has been the seat of the German Bundestag since 1999. A special eye-catcher: the large glass dome at the top of the building. From there you not only have a unique view over Berlin, but you can also stop for a bite to eat in the roof garden restaurant. The Reichstag regularly hosts free guided tours and lectures.

Brandenburg Gate

THE LANDMARK OF BERLIN
 
The Brandenburg Gate on Pariser Platz is a historical landmark from the 18th century and forms the end of the boulevard Unter den Linden. It is the only remaining of Berlin's 18 former city gates and one of the capital's most popular tourist attractions. During the division of Germany, the Berlin Wall ran directly along the Brandenburg Gate, making the landmark a symbol of German reunification today.

TV Tower

THE HIGHEST POINT OF THE CITY 

 

From Alexanderplatz in the Berlin-Mitte district, the Berlin TV Tower rises 368 meters into the air and dominates the capital's skyline. Built between 1965 and 1969, the television tower was once a national symbol of the GDR. Today, the tower is home to several radio stations, a revolving restaurant and a viewing platform.

Humboldt Forum

MORE THAN A MUSEUM
 
Opened in 2020 in the Berlin Palace, the Humboldt Forum is a universal museum that includes the Ethnological Museum, the Museum of Asian Art and the Berlin exhibition of the Stadtmuseum Berlin. The Humboldt Forum also sees itself as a meeting place where culture and science are exhibited, discussed and negotiated. On the top floor there is a restaurant and a roof terrace from which you can enjoy a spectacular view of many of Berlin's landmarks.

Gendarmenmarkt

ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SQUARES IN THE CITY
 
The German and French Cathedrals and the Berlin Schauspielhaus are just three of the historic buildings that can be found on Gendarmenmarkt in the Mitte district. One grandiose building follows the next on the approximately 3.3 hectare square. Created at the end of the 17th century as part of Friedrichstadt, large parts of Gendarmenmarkt were destroyed during the Second World War - and then rebuilt. Today, the square is home to various venues and monuments.

Museums Island

CONCENTRATED CULTURE IN THE HISTORIC CENTER OF BERLIN
 
The Spree Island in Berlin-Mitte is home to five of Berlin's largest museums: the Altes Museum, the Neues Museum, the Alte Nationalgalerie, the Bode Museum and the Pergamon Museum. The ensemble of buildings is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a unique cultural center in Berlin. The museums house mainly archaeological works of art from the 19th century - from sculptures and paintings to ceramics and elements of historical buildings.

Gedenkstätte Berliner Mauer

A NATIONAL MONUMENT
 
Berlin was a divided city for over 40 years. You can still visit parts of the Berlin Wall today. At the Bernauer Strasse memorial site, you will not only find a 70-metre-long, accessible original section of the border fortifications, but also freely accessible information boards about the division of Germany. The memorial also includes the Chapel of Reconciliation, a documentation center and the Window of Remembrance: a memorial commemorating the victims of the Berlin Wall.

Checkpoint Charlie

BERLIN'S MOST FAMOUS BORDER CROSSING
 
The most famous former border crossing from the American to the Soviet sector, Checkpoint Charlie, was established in 1961 and was the scene of some of the most spectacular escape stories from the GDR to the FRG. Today, it is not only the replica of the first checkpoint barracks that commemorates this historic site of German history: In the Wall Museum, you can view various documentaries and relics relating to the events at the Wall.

Hackesche Höfe

STORE AND ENJOY
 
The building complex at Hackescher Markt comprises eight commercial courtyards and is now a popular Berlin landmark, and not just because of its architecture. The small stores, which mainly sell design products manufactured there, are a wonderful place to store, while a wide range of restaurants and various cultural venues await visitors. The complex was completed in 1907 and is now a listed building.
