Philosophy

With sly, we have created a place where people can meet authentically because we value their personality and individuality. Of course, this applies not only to our guests, but also to our employees. Our guests can therefore look forward to honest hospitality that comes from the heart - sometimes with a certain Berlin charm. This is exactly what unites us with our home district of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, where life pulsates and opposites literally attract. 

The skillful play of contrasts is also reflected in the design of our hotel. Despite our modern design concept and the urban surroundings, there are always references to nature. And these ensure the special homeliness and individuality of the sly. In the restaurant, guests can experience the natural light from outside at any time of day thanks to the imposing glass roof, while exotic green plants reach up towards the glass dome. Chef Matthias Meier and his team serve Euro-Asian favorites and specialties from the Robata grill, while Dennis Kappelsberger mixes well-known classics and creative signature drinks in the bar area. We are always committed to the "low-waste" principle - in other words, we do everything ourselves that we can do ourselves and use as many of a product's ingredients as possible.

Sustainability also plays a major role at sly: from the Thinkgreen option in the booking process to energy-saving switches in the rooms, filtered drinking water and reusable bottles to refillable amenities, we try to do a little more every day to protect our environment and treat it more consciously. So it was also important to us to preserve the structures of the old Berlin buildings in which sly is now at home in the best possible way and to skillfully combine them with design classics and new buildings to create a harmonious overall picture. 

Whenever we can showcase our home city, we seize the opportunity. It goes without saying that our fitness and wellness area therefore boasts a panoramic sauna with a view over the rooftops of the city as an absolute specialty and that we have established a hotel Späti with local specialties instead of the usual minibar.
